Hello I am writing on behalf of Sunshine Coast Dementia Network (SCDN). The SCDN is holding its free conference ‘Dementia Matters. You Matter.’ on Thursday 26 September 2019 from 10:00am-3:00pm at Mooloolaba TAFE. Never before has the Sunshine Coast hosted such a wide ranging dementia conference. It is a one stop shop for anyone needing information on dementia with experts in the field form Gerontologist, Tanya Dave; Geriatrician, Dr Sam Hutson; Peter Porcellini, elder lawyer, crhlaw; Doris Zagdanski on grief, and many services including Alzheimer's Qld, OzCare Dementia Advisory Service, Carinity, Carers Queensland, Relationships Australia, Suncare and Blue Care. Lorrae and Vince O’Rourke facilitate the SCDN and are well known supporters of people with dementia, their carers and staff. Vince, wrote a book, ‘I Wish I Were a Leper’ which was a reflection of his six years of caring for his first wife who died as a result of young-onset Alzheimer’s disease. The O’Rourke’s share their home, Carers Outlook, to family carers for respite and education. They give presentations on dementia and the caring role to community groups. Vince will be presenting a talk on Towards Spirituality of Caring at the Catholic Church, Nambour on Saturday 7th September. They, with staff from Carinity and other dementia services will be offering support at a dementia stall at the Festuri Multicultural festival, Cotton Tree on Saturday 21st September.

Many thanks. Kind regards Tracey Tracey Johnston Community Liaison Officer, Sunshine Coast Blue Care North Coast Cluster Uniting Care QLD M: 0439 146 282 P: 07 5438 5000 A: PO Box 108 Caloundra QLD 4551 [email protected] www.bluecare.org.au
