Mark is a conductor, composer of music theatre, flautist and music educator.

Mark Dunbar: composer, conductor, writer & flautist. www.markdunbarmusicandwords.com. Quals inc. BA with Distinction & Grad Dip in Musical Direction from Vic. Coll of Arts. MA in Ethnomusicology from Monash Uni. Mark founded two 50 voice choirs (Canto Coro Melb in 1993, and Bris Canto Coro in 1995) presenting choral works rarely heard in Australia, along with new Australian choral compositions exploring themes of exile, migration & Aboriginality in contemporary Australia. Recent major compositions include - 2 operas: Magda's Fortune; and Inochka Volodya & Me. Also 6 musicals: Hornet’s Wedding; Anderson & Ipeta; Damage; Rape of the Creature; Beilbah: Double Helix; and The Man who loved Children. He has written 2 dance-theatre works: House of Incest & Les Enfants Terribles. He is currently adapting Mervyn Peake's Mr. Pye as a musical.
