Local disaster management plan

The Sunshine Coast local disaster management plan aims to provide the community with the tools to return to a safe environment after a disaster.

The Local Disaster Management Plan (PDF, 5.14MB) outlines the procedures for a disaster or emergency on the Sunshine Coast Coast to ensure:

  • effective and coordinated planning
  • preparedness
  • response and recovery.

The goal of the plan is for a speedy return to a safe and secure environment as soon as possible.

The Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Management Group developed the plan. The main focus of the plan is to help reduce:

  • the loss of human life
  • illness or injury to people
  • property loss or damage
  • damage to the environment that results from a disaster.

Combined with state and federal disaster management arrangements, the plan helps to ensure assistance to the Sunshine Coast region, if required.
