Direct debit
A direct debit is an easy way to pay your rates from your bank account on agreed dates.
Once you have created a payment plan with Council, you can set up direct debit to automatically pay your six-monthly rates without lifting a finger. Prefer smaller, more manageable payments? You can also spread your payments throughout the year to manage your finances in a way that suits you.
Pay ahead by direct debit
You can choose to have a set amount deducted from your bank account weekly, fortnightly or monthly - helping you stay ahead on your rates. If there’s still a balance owing on the due date, you can set up an automatic deduction for that too. Otherwise, you will need to make this payment yourself to avoid interest charges.
Set and forget - pay by direct debit on the due date
Have the full amount of your rate notice deducted from your bank account on the due date. This will apply to all rate notices, including supplementary and six-monthly notices.
Use direct debit to make your payment plan instalments
Once you've been provided with your payment plan by Council, showing the fortnightly or monthly amounts you need to pay, you can set up a direct debit to match these amounts. This payment plan is only valid for the current rate period. Rating periods are:
- January to June
- July to December.
Additional charge of 8% interest per annum compounded daily will accrue on all rates in arrears.
