Can your not-for-profit group make our community more active, vibrant, inclusive, resilient and creative?

Minor Grants support not-for-profit organisations to deliver one-off projects, events and activities with broad community benefit. Applications must align to a specific grant category as detailed in the guidelines.

Information on eligibility, category priorities and assessment criteria

You are encouraged to read through the revised Community Grants guidelines and familiarise yourselves with the following changes:

  1. A new Festive and Commemorative Events category has been created to support Festive Season (Christmas, New Year) and Commemorative (eg Australia Day, Anzac Day) community-led events.
  2. Well-established community organisations with a proven track record of delivering festive or commemorative community-led events can now apply for multi-year funding (up-to three years) in this new Festive and Commemorative Events category.
  3. Applications for community events that are not a festive or commemorative event type should be made in the category most relevant to the focus of the event (see other categories), as the Community Events category has been discontinued.
  4. Lower Priority criteria for projects or events that have previously been awarded a Council Major or Minor grant has been removed.
  5. The Cultural Development category title has been adjusted to Creative Development to provide greater clarity for community groups applying for creative projects, events and activities.

Variations to already funded projects

If you require a project variation or an extension of your project dates contact the Grants Team via grants@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au with the details of your issue.

If your group has had to cancel a community event which has received council grant funding, and you have spent the money as outlined in your application, you can acquit your grant as usual. If you have an under-spend or hadn't started spending yet, please contact the Grants Team via grants@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au to discuss whether a project variation or a return of funds is your organisation's best option.
