High-use / high-impact permits
Local businesses can carry out a range of activities on Sunshine Coast public land. The main purpose of public land is for community use and enjoyment. Council awards high-use / high-impact permits for activities on this land that benefit the community.
On 24 April 2025, Council endorsed the activities and locations (DOCX, 300KB) to be included in the new High-use / high-impact permit period 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2028.
Some examples of approved activities include:
- Surfing and kite surfing lessons
- boat rentals
- Stand-up paddleboarding
- Skydiving
- Food and drink vans
- Mobile dog washing
If a business already has one of these permits, they may be invited to renew it for another three years (from 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2028). Council will look at how well the business has done, how safe the activity is, and community feedback before offering an invitation to renew.
Vacant locations and activities
There are some approved activities that don’t have a business yet. If you run a business and want to apply, check the list of vacant locations and activities (DOCX, 294KB) and send an email to: [email protected].
