New Sunshine Coast planning scheme project

In partnership with the community, council will spend the next few years preparing a new planning scheme.

Sunshine Coast Council is preparing a new planning scheme that will replace the current Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014.  A new planning scheme will set the vision for the Sunshine Coast in 2041 and guide growth and development to help achieve that vision.

Preparing a new planning scheme is a multi-year project with many stages.

As an early step toward creating a new planning scheme which reflects our community’s vision for the region, Council sought community feedback during February and March 2022, as part of the preliminary consultation program. Read the preliminary consultation - summary and outcomes brochure for more information, or visit our have your say website.

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share.
We commit to working in partnership with the Traditional Custodians and the broader First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) community to support self-determination through economic and community development.
