Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014

The Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014 sets the framework to manage growth and development on the Sunshine Coast.

The Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014 regulates the way land, buildings and structures are used and developed on the Sunshine Coast.

On 14 April 2014, council adopted the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014 and associated planning scheme policies (the planning scheme). The planning scheme was gazetted (PDF, 285KB) on 2 May 2014 and commenced on 21 May 2014.

As a living document, amendments are made to the planning scheme from time to time. Planning scheme users are encouraged to regularly check for such amendments.

In addition to the planning scheme, council has declared by resolution that certain types of building work may impact on the amenity and aesthetics of the Sunshine Coast. As such, council is a concurrence agency for the assessment of amenity and aesthetic considerations of the following types of building work:

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share.
We commit to working in partnership with the Traditional Custodians and the broader First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) community to support self-determination through economic and community development.
