Sunshine Coast leads national conversation on coastal sustainability
The Sunshine Coast will host the 2025 Australian Coastal Councils Conference, sharing learnings in coastal sustainability, climate resilience and community-focused adaptation strategies, while fostering national collaboration on managing Australia’s changing coastlines.

Budding artists offered chance to go completely wild
The 2025 Wild HeART Student Art Prize invites young Sunshine Coast artists to explore native Australian species and share their ecological stories through realistic art. Finalists’ works will feature in a summer exhibition at Maroochy Botanic Garden. Entries close October 5, with prizes across three age categories.

From weeds to wildlife: a Cooloolabin restoration journey
A 17-hectare Cooloolabin property, once degraded by logging and farming, has been transformed into a thriving wildlife corridor thanks to landholder Julia and Sunshine Coast Council’s Landholder Environment Grants. Applications for 2025 grants open July 7, supporting rural landowners in restoring biodiversity and protecting the region’s natural environment.
