Why it matters

This competition supports the Sunshine Coast Council’s All Abilities Action Plan, which aims to create a region where everyone can participate fully in community life. Your story helps shine a light on the places that are getting it right – and inspires others to do the same.

The photos submitted for this competition will be used to highlight those places and spaces that are making a difference and contribute to greater participation by people with disability in community, sporting and cultural activities.

All Access Day at Dicky Beach 2025

Now celebrating its fifth successful year, the All Access Day at the Beach event continues to go from strength to strength, creating unforgettable experiences and breaking down barriers for people with disability to enjoy the stunning beaches of the Sunshine Coast. This year’s celebration took place at the beautiful Dicky Beach and was made possible thanks to the incredible dedication of volunteer lifesaving staff, whose commitment to inclusion and community spirit truly shines.

The day was packed with vibrant activities and entertainment for all ages. Highlights included colorful face painting, exciting beach games, kite flying, seated volleyball, interactive stalls, and information booths, and of course, the crowd-favourite “Dicky Beach’s Got Talent” show, which brought laughter, creativity, and joy to everyone involved.

This event is more than just a day at the beach—it is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when communities come together to celebrate diversity, accessibility, and inclusion.

FUNctional Market Day

FUNctional Market Day at Venue114 was a vibrant celebration of inclusion and creativity, bringing together people with disability to showcase their talents and products to the wider community. Now in its second year,  the event featured a bustling marketplace where stallholders proudly displayed handmade goods, art, and innovative products. Attendees also enjoyed insightful presentations, including Carers Queensland’s session on the Be Your Own Boss project, empowering individuals to explore self-employment opportunities, and Equity Works’ practical talk on being prepared for emergencies. Adding to the excitement, the day concluded with Sunny Coast’s Got Talent, a lively talent show that highlighted the incredible skills and performances of local participants. The event was a true celebration of ability, resilience, and community spirit.
