Council is supporting four fireworks displays at three locations – Coolum at 8.30pm, Caloundra at 9.30pm and Mooloolaba at 8.30pm and midnight.

All viewing points are glass and alcohol free.

Mooloolaba

Due to the Mooloolaba revitalisation project construction works along Mooloolaba Esplanade, the 8.30pm and midnight fireworks displays will be fired from an offshore barge in front of the HMAS Brisbane Lookout.

You can enjoy great views from Maroochydore Beach in the north, to Point Cartwright in the south and Council is encouraging visitors to choose their own adventure.

Pack a picnic to enjoy the display along the coastline, or book into your favourite restaurant or cruise.

There will be light family friendly entertainment and roving performers at the HMAS Brisbane Lookout, Northern Parklands and along Beach Terrace from 5pm - midnight.

Dining

Food Trucks will be located at HMAS lookout, Beach Terrace and Mooloolaba Esplanade.

General Information

Advice for pet and animal owners

Council follows the advice of RSPCA. For information on keeping pets and animals safe visit the RSPCA website

What about accessibility?

Viewing areas along the Esplanade and Northern Parklands are accessible, with parking available in surrounding streets and public car parks.

What environmental safeguards are in place?

The offshore product used by fireworks provider Skylighter, is part of their ECO star range featuring no added plastic or metal, fully bio-degradable paper and cardboard with some items breaking down over a short period.

A small amount of water proofing is utilised to ensure the display can go ahead in rough and wet conditions and is removed prior to the show.

The display site is monitored during the event and afterwards and a litter parade is conducted post event for any debris that can be collected and recycled.

Carbon emissions are the equivalent of 0.5 trees being planted.

Will there be extra services to ensure the beaches are clean and safe?

At first light on New Year’s Day, the fireworks team, in collaboration with Council’s Parks and Gardens Team, will conduct a litter pick for approximately four hours to ensure the beach is clean following celebrations.

A beach sweeper will also be used for thorough sand grooming and debris removal at the main Mooloolaba Beach area.
