Games events and venues on the Sunshine Coast

We are excited to have some amazing events set to be held right here in our beautiful region.

Events

Olympic competition events proposed for the Coast include:

  • Marathon
  • Road cycling
  • Football
  • Race walk
  • Mountain Bike (cycling)
  • Basketball
  • Kiteboarding (sailing)

Paralympic competition events proposed for the Coast include:

  • Marathon
  • Cycling

Venues

The proposed Sunshine Coast venues for these events include:

  • an expanded Sunshine Coast Stadium at Kawana Sports Precinct (football preliminaries)
  • Alexandra Headland which will accommodate road events (cycling, marathon and race walks) and kiteboarding competition (sailing)
  • a new Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Centre at Maroochy River (mountain bike competition) - visit the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) site for more information. 
  • a new Athlete Village which will be located in the heart of the new Maroochydore city centre.
