Applications for new permanent commercial waste bins, or changes to an existing commercial waste bin service, are made on the application form. Changes can create an increase in charges.
Note: All changes to this type of waste service must have an application form signed by the property owner or by a member of the body corporate management.
The form must be filled in when:
- applying for a new standard service – i.e. one waste bin emptied once a week
- you require an increase in the number of bins – i.e. more than one bin emptied once a week, or a new bulk bin, or a different sized bin
- ordering additional recycle bins.
A 240L or 360L recycle bin is available to non-residential properties that have a standard waste bin, and can be ordered by the owner, property manager or tenant. The commercial property must be rated for minimum service.
Bulk bins are available for commercial premises across the Sunshine Coast. Different sizes are available, depending on individual waste management requirements.
Note: Maximum weight for all bulk bins = 200kg per cubic metre.
|1 cubic metre||1400 mm||900 mm||900 mm|
|1.5 cubic metres||2000 mm||900 mm||900 mm|

Please contact council for more information.
Various sizes of bulk recycling bins are available from council. Refer to the 2020-2021 Revenue Statement.
After hours commercial waste collection
For urgent issues relating to commercial waste collections on weekends or public holidays, please contact council.
At the close of business council phones are diverted to the after hours emergency service provider. There is no need to dial a different number.
Extra waste service
If an owner or authorised agent requires an extra waste collection in addition to their regular service, complete the online form. Extra services are charged according to bin sizes. Refer to the fee schedule for relevant costs. An invoice will be posted to the authorised requestor. Tenants can request a pre-paid service, by contacting council.
Queensland waste levy
The Queensland Government is introducing a levy on waste received at all Queensland landfills from July 1 2019.
This levy applies to commercial waste and will be charged at $75 per tonne (excluding GST) for general waste and higher levies for regulated wastes. This increase for commercial waste collection customers will be proportional based on waste container type, number and service frequency.
Council will collect the levy on behalf of the State Government through customer waste accounts and at waste disposal facilities. Therefore, the levy applies to all waste bins associated with a business.
Please refer to the waste levy page for more information.
For more information please contact council.
