Public transport services on the Sunshine Coast are managed by the Queensland Government, while Council plays an important role in identifying and supporting improvements to the transport network. We advocate for more investment in local transport so that buses, trains, and other services are reliable, convenient, and meet the needs of our growing community.

A portion of your transport levy is used to deliver public and community transport trials across the region to help connect communities and encourage residents and visitors to make the switch to sustainable transport options.

Encouraging more people to use public transport is a key part of our vision to become Australia’s most sustainable region.

Visit the transport levy webpage to find out about other transport levy initiatives.

We encourage our residents to submit any suggestions for service improvements directly to Translink at Contact us | Translink

Current trials

The following trial services are currently running, and we encourage you to get on board, so they continue into the future.

Route 616 Late Night Service Trial

Let us drive you home for 50 cents! Translink bus route 616 now runs after 10pm every Friday and Saturday night, connecting suburbs between Maroochydore and Palmview.

Flexilink trial services are pre-booked scheduled transport services that operate in areas with limited transport options

Previous trials

Council’s advocacy and investment delivered through the transport levy, and in partnership with TransLink, has significantly enhanced public transport across the region.

Most recently, Translink partnered with Council to trial an extension to route 631 (Nambour to Noosa via Eumundi) to service the Ginger Factory, Nutworks and the Yandina industrial estate.
