Free trees
Each year Council distributes free trees to residential ratepayers to help beautify the region.
Council's nursery is closed over the Christmas/New Year period.
Council’s Free Trees for Rates program will not be available on Wednesday 24 December and Wednesday 31 December.
The program will recommence on Wednesday 7 January 2026.
Residential ratepayers can collect two free tube stock plants from the nursery at Council's Caloundra depot located on Industrial Avenue.
Residential ratepayers are invited to collect their trees with their current financial year digital or printed rates notice. Notices to be sighted as per the free tree policy.
Digital copies can be accessed via the Sunshine Coast app under 'My Documents' or by logging in to MyCouncil and navigating to the 'My Properties' or 'Property and Rates' tile.
Note:
- trees can only be collected on Wednesdays between 1.00pm and 3.00pm (nursery open time)
- 2 plants can be collected every 6 months with a current financial year Sunshine Coast Council rates notice
- Council provides a selection of trees, either small medium or large. Council does not stock any shrubs or ground covers.
Free trees are also distributed via a free tree day, which councillors organise in their respective divisions.
