Queensland Youth Week 2024 - April 7-13

We have so many exciting events planned for Youth Week all across our region including a Youth Festival in Baringa.

Youth Fest 2024 - April 12 (2pm-8pm)

Battle of the bands, skate and scooter comps, food trucks, art exhibitions, youth markets live music and so much more. Full Youth Fest program found here.

Chiggy's Skateboarding are bringing their skate ramp and hosting learn to skate and scoot workshops at Youth Fest 24 for ALL AGES. 

When: Friday 12th April

Enter a skate comp, stroll through youth markets, admire artworks created by young people and join the colour run this April during Youth Week.

There are a number of free activities and events available for our younger Sunshine Coast members, with Youth Week kicking off on April 7 until April 13.

Youth Week is an opportunity to celebrate young people, their talents and the contribution they make to our Sunshine Coast community.

You can still enter your band into the Battle of the Bands competition, with registration open online. Be sure to enter for your chance to win a $3000 recording package with Yama-Nui.

Other events happening during the week include a basketball competition in Buderim, an art exhibition in Maroochydore, a surf experience at Kings Beach and a colour run in Meridan Plains.

Sunshine Coast Young Leaders Academy 2024

Sunshine Coast Council has launched the inaugural Young Leaders Academy in February.

Eight Sunshine Coast locals have come together to inspire and create a diverse, honest and authentic group to achieve community action. The Young Leaders Academy is a yearlong program with the aim to increase and strengthen civic leadership, participatory and community action.

Through a comprehensive program, young people will develop essential leadership skills and gain a deep understanding of participatory and community leadership practices, enabling them to drive sustainable and positive change in their communities.

Purposes of the Youth Academy include:

  • Nurture a generation of leaders to actively contribute to the betterment of their communities
  • Gain a deeper understanding of community and participatory leaderships practices
  • Understand and navigate Council operations.

Youth Connect network meetings

Youth Connect provides a forum for service providers to connect and share information.
