Healthy Sunshine Coast encourages people to be well and stay active.

Our program is a council initiative and provides opportunities to participate, at free or low cost, in a variety of different physical activities, workshops and events to maintain or improve your fitness levels. The aim is to increase physical activity levels and reduce sedentary behaviors by making regular exercise part of your daily lifestyle.

CHOOSE TO MOVE in 2021!

We've launched this year by rebooting our successful Choose to Move 2020 campaign which offers choices from Aqua to Zumba, Circuit  and Yoga and more.  With a focus on face to face classes, you can choose an exercise session in a council park or some very special outdoor locations. You can head indoors for a class in local halls or other community venues. There's opportunities to get in the water at a local aquatic centres. You can choose the level too. There's fast paced group fitness, running and adventures to explore or low impact, gentle movement, walking and classes especially for seniors.

New to the program or need a refresher because things have changed? Check out our FAQs page where you'll find answers to most frequently asked questions about the program.

All programmed classes and activities in the program are facilitated and run by suitably insured and qualified Service Providers, independent of council. For more information see program's Terms & Conditions.

How to participate

With community safety our top priority and to keep everyone in our community safe, there are 4 simple steps to participate:

  1. JOIN - You must JOIN THE MOVEMENT before your first class.
It's a one-time registration and its free to join. It's simply council's way of collecting your full contact details.
  2. BROWSE - Once you've joined, browse the activities and select classes you wish to attend.
Not all activities have returned. Additional classes will be added regular as more community activities and Service Provider come on board the program.
  3. CONNECT - Follow the instructions and make contact with each Service Provider to book your place. Most providers will require you to complete a separate registration and/or health check form for their own records.
If you are not able to book online most providers will be able to sign you in on the day. Check first as some classes indoors have capacity limits in place. Council does not make or manage bookings  - you need to contact providers for new bookings, changes or cancellations.
  4. ATTEND - Enjoy, then repeat!
The aim is to get you to attend classes regularly and at least weekly. You're welcome to encourage your family, friends and neighbours to come along. Simply get them to join and book.
