The Twilight Film Club – which continues today with a free screening of The Goonies – is an initiative of the Sunshine Coast Council’s Youthlinx program, and is the perfect lead up to SCRUFFY, the Coast’s annual youth film festival, which kicks off in June.
Sunshine Coast Council Community Services Regional Director Lisbet Dean said the Twilight Film Club provides affordable, quality entertainment and a cultural experience not only for young people, but the wider community.
“The Twilight Film Club gives local families an opportunity to have a fun, creative night out together, and at the same time encourages everyone to get involved in the SCRUFFY youth film festival, which is now in its third year,” said Ms Dean.
The Goonies screens today from 6.30pm in Felicity Park.
Future Twilight Film Club screenings at Felicity Park include Labyrinth on Friday 6 June and Gremlins on Friday 20 June, and the original 'Rocky', starring Sylvester Stallone will screen in the Playhouse at the Events Centre on June 13 at 6:30pm.
Meanwhile, the Sunshine Coast’s youth still have time to show off their creative talent, and possibly win $2000 in prize money at this year’s SCRUFFFY Film Festival.
Entries to what is fast becoming one of the most popular youth film festivals across the nation close on Friday 6 June 2008.
