Melbourne Storm premiership-winning coach Craig Bellamy was today officially welcomed to the Sunshine Coast by Mayor Mark Jamieson.
Bellamy is on the Sunshine Coast for two days and will meet with staff and players from the Falcons as well as inspect facilities within the Kawana Sports Precinct.
He will also attend a Falcons’ training session as well as a Men of League lunch.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know a bit more about the region and particularly the Falcons over the two days,” said Bellamy.
“Storm has made a commitment to the Sunshine Coast and part of that is establishing a clear pathway for local players to make their way into the NRL if they are willing to work hard enough for it.”
Mayor Mark Jamieson said the investment the Storm has made in the Sunshine Coast will benefit the Falcons - and the wider community.
“We welcome and support Melbourne Storm and their commitment to the Sunshine Coast and the Falcons,” he said.
“With Coast-based Queensland Director of Coaching, Matt Adamson working with the Falcons coaching staff and players, I’m confident the team will benefit hugely – and I would like to see the entire community get behind this new partnership and support the Falcons.
“The partnership creates a new and real pathway for young rugby league players and I am really pleased to hear that the Falcons also have plans for a high performance community and sports facility in Kawana," he said.
