Shout Out Loud Youth Festival 2009 was a resounding success with more than 1500 young people, children and families attending the event, eclipsing last year’s attendance figures by 50 per cent.
The festival was organised, managed and delivered by 260 talented young people who entertained the crowd with original music, dance routines and theatre performances.
It also provided a unique opportunity for young people to learn future career skills in stage management, presenting, and sound and lighting.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council’s Festival Manager Katie Edmiston, said this year had set a new standard for the event.
“We really hit a new high. It brought together young people from across the Coast and hinterland to showcase their talents and to gain experience in creating a local event for, by and about young people,” Ms Edmiston said.
“This program shows how young people can reach for the stars when they are supported by people in their communities.”
