Sunshine Beach will soon be a safer place for beach goers and emergency personnel.

Sunshine Coast Council is set to construct a rock boulder wall to protect the emergency vehicle access onto Sunshine Beach.

The vehicle access track at Beach Access 27 has become unstable as a result of the February 2012 storm events that caused a significant amount of sand to be washed out of the lower section of Sunshine Creek.

Consultation with local community groups has assisted council with the design of the rock wall to ensure the drainage works conform with the natural landscape and enable revegetation of the area.

The project will commence on Monday 19 November and is expected to be complete by Friday 14 December, weather permitting.

Beach Access 27 and the associated car park will be closed while works are in progress to ensure public safety. The access will be available on weekends and after hours where possible.

Alternative beach access during this construction period will be Beach Access 26, Seaview Terrace and Beach Access 28 and 29 on The Esplanade, Sunshine Beach.
