Palmwoods will take on a distinct shade of green when the Living Smart Palmwoods family afternoon is held on June 21.
Part of the monthly Green June festival, the Palmwoods community event will be delivered by Sunshine Coast Council’s Living Smart team and Caloundra Regional Gallery.
Environment Portfolio and Divisional Councillor Jenny McKay said the event would provide a creative, fun and informative afternoon for residents of all ages.
“The community will enjoy fabulous free arts and music workshops such as gratitude rock painting, drumming, making clay animals and making music from junk,” Cr McKay said.
“Kids will be able to get up close and personal with the animals from Geckoes Wildlife and if they dress up as their favourite Dr Seuss character, could be in with a chance for a prize.
“Bring your beanies and blankets and enjoy a screening of The Lorax from 5.15pm, which is based on a book by Dr Seuss and starring Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Danny DeVito.
“I love taking my grandchildren to this event.
“It’s fun, it’s educational and it’s a win for the environment as we all learn how to make a positive difference towards a greener world.
“This is part of Sunshine Coast Council’s goal to create a sustainable environment.”
The community event will be held 2-7pm at Main Street, Palmwoods.
