If you are a young and passionate dancer here is your chance to learn new skills at the school holidays Queensland Ballet Dance Camp from Monday, July 3 to Thursday, July 6 at council’s Lake Kawana Community Centre.

Division 3 Councillor Peter Cox said Lake Kawana Community Centre had a long history of providing a diverse range of high quality, engaging and affordable school holiday activities and events and this partnership with the Queensland Ballet was testament to that fact.

“The aim of the Queensland Ballet Dance Camp is to help raise community awareness about dance, and to reinforce the diverse technical and expressive skills of dance students,” Cr Cox said.

“Created for young people aged between five and 17 years, the dance camp offers a unique creative outlet, encouraging students of all skill levels to discover the magic of ballet.”

Led by teaching artists from Queensland’s Ballet’s EdSquad, participants will get creative with sets and costumes, learn current repertoires, develop choreography to share and explore with others and meet new people.

The camp will conclude with a celebratory event giving participants the opportunity to share their new skills and learning outcomes with family and friends.

Students are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Drinks and snacks will be available for sale at the café.

A ticket for the four-day camp is just $190 per person. Bookings are required as spaces are limited.

To celebrate Seniors Week, Queensland Ballet will present four exciting workshops specifically for seniors on Monday, August 21.
