Visitors to the Nambour Showgrounds will now enjoy a better event experience after Sunshine Coast Council completed several upgrades over the past financial year, ahead of the Sunshine Coast Show this week and the Queensland Garden Expo in July.

Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said the upgrades helped provide a quality facility for major events on the Sunshine Coast.

“Over the past year, the showgrounds have undergone several upgrades that will improve the experience of visitors and several community groups who use the facilities,” Cr Rogerson said.

“Showgrounds Road has been widened to create dual lane access and a new access road has been opened, connecting to Crusher Park.

“This will improve safety and alleviate traffic congestion generally and during events.

“We are also currently installing new LED signs at the entrance and the corner of Nambour Connection and Nambour Bli Bli Road’s to inform people about events, and improving drainage on the sports ovals.

“The improved drainage will help reduce maintenance requirements following heavy rain and will make the facilities more usable.

“The new car club shed has also undergone upgrades and has since proven to cater well for their meetings and events.

“Work has recently been completed on the Moss Day Pavilion roof extension, which makes the facility more weather proof and provides a more enjoyable experience for competitors and spectators during equestrian events.

“These upgrades each contribute to the overall sustainability of the Nambour Showgrounds and help us to ensure the success of events in the future.”
