Enjoy our beautiful coastline and waterways and our spectacular hinterland under moonlight with the Sunshine Coast Council’s Heart Foundation Walking free moonwalks in 2011.
The 45-minute walks will be held close to the full moon each month in Cooroy, Cotton Tree, Lake Kawana and Pomona-Noosaville starting from Monday 17 January 2011.
Community Policy and Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said moonwalks are part of council’s health and wellbeing program and aim to make being active easy for everyone.
“Day time schedules are sometimes so full it can be hard to fit in exercise,” Cr McKay said.
“Enjoying an evening stroll by moonlight gives people an opportunity to get fit and healthy after the hustle and bustle of the day is over.
“The moonwalks, led by local volunteers, follow a variety of trails with an easy pace that enables people to walk and talk at the same time.
“This is a great way to get out for the evening and spend some time with family and friends or even meet new people while exploring the beautiful waterways or hinterland.
“More walks are scheduled throughout 2011 around each full moon phase so watch out for other opportunities to join in.”
