With only three days remaining in 2015, Mooloolaba is getting ready to welcome in the New Year in style.

More than 45,000 locals and visitors are expected to enjoy the celebrations at The Esplanade Mooloolaba from 4pm to midnight on Thursday, December 31.

Deputy Mayor and Division 4 Councillor Chris Thompson, Queensland Police Inspector Mike Miley and popular local musician, Carl Wockner, were on The Esplanade today to officially launch the New Year’s Eve Mooloolaba event.

Cr Thompson was looking forward to the event and said Mooloolaba would be the perfect place to celebrate with family and friends.

“Council is pleased to put on this event for the community to come together in a safe environment, celebrate the end of 2015 and welcome in a new year,” Cr Thompson said.

“Delicious food will be available from local vendors, restaurants and cafes on The Esplanade.

“We’ve got a cool range of shows for the kids including the Minions Musical Experience, Marvel Green Go Show, and local musicians, plus carnival rides, face painting and the 8.30pm fireworks.

“And for those who like to celebrate late into the night, there will be DJ sets on the Beach Stage plus Carl Wockner, Busby Marou and The Potbelleez on the Main Stage.

“This year’s midnight fireworks will be a great way to finish off the night and welcome in 2016.”
