Sunshine Coast Council invites avid readers to join acclaimed Australian author Peter FitzSimons at The Events Centre, Caloundra from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Thursday, November 24.

One of Australia’s biggest selling non-fiction authors of the last 20 years, Peter is the author of more than 30 books, including Tobruk, Kokoda, Batavia, Eureka, Ned Kelly, Gallipoli and biographies of Douglas Mawson, Nancy Wake‚ Kim Beazley‚ Nick Farr-Jones‚ Les Darcy, Steve Waugh and John Eales.

He is also a journalist with the Sydney Morning Herald and Sun-Herald newspapers and a former Wallabies rugby union player.

Peter was named a Member of the Order of Australia for service to literature as a biographer, sports journalist and commentator, and to the community through contributions to conservation, disability care, social welfare and sporting organisations. He lives with his wife, Lisa Wilkinson, and their three children in Sydney.

Peter will be discussing his new non-fiction release, Victory at Villers-Bretonneux, the incredible story of Australian triumph in World War I.

With his usual unique style, Peter will highlight an extraordinary feat in Australian defence history.

Bringing to life the stories of men across all sides, he will paint a vivid picture of the conditions along the brutal Western Front.

This special literary event, with popular local radio presenter Mark Darin as master of ceremonies, is part of a series of Sunshine Coast Libraries author talks hosted at various locations across the region.

Peter’s books will be available for purchase at the venue. Tickets are $25 per person and bookings are a must via council’s library website. There will be live music by Hayden Hack and a cash bar.
