Watch the flying fox fly-out at Goat Island

Each winter flying foxes roost in the mangroves of Goat Island on the Maroochy River, giving local residents an opportunity to see a spectacular fly-out!

Join us on July 14 from 4.30 - 6.30pm for a sunset cruise to view the local wildlife and scenery.

Division 8 Councillor Jason OPray said the cruise was sure to be invigorating – listening to local Kabi Kabi members share traditional stories of the flying fox and the Maroochy River.

“The flying foxes will put on a show and by boat is the best way to see these animals in their natural surroundings,” Cr OPray said.

“The trip will finish with one of nature’s greatest spectacles – the flying fox fly-out.

“There’s a licensed bar on the boat, so bring your camera, wear a warm jacket, and get on-board to see the impressive display.

“The boat departs from Cruise Maroochy at 270 Bradman Ave Maroochydore at 4.30pm on July 14.
