The Sunshine Coast Lightning will be out to strike a finals blow in Melbourne this Sunday.

The reigning Suncorp Super Netball premiers meet the Vixens in a match with enormous implications on the makeup of this year’s finals series.

While a Lightning victory will guarantee them a finals berth, bonus points and results from other final round matches will also determine where they finish within the top four.

If the Lightning lose to the Vixens on Sunday, they can still qualify for the finals if they claim at least two bonus points.

So don your Lightning colours, grab your calculators and tune in to Channel Nine from 1pm on Sunday!

Round 14 scenario, Lightning vs Vixens:

  • Lightning reach finals if they win, or claim at least two bonus points.
  • If Lightning lose but claim one bonus point, goal percentage will determine whether they take fourth spot ahead of the Vixens (Vixens are currently on 106%, while Lightning are 107%).
  • Lightning will drop below the Vixens on percentage if they lose on Sunday by five or more goals.
  • Lightning will finish second if they win and claim maximum bonus points against the Vixens and the Giants claim only one bonus point against the Fever, or if they grab seven points against the Vixens and the Giants fail to win a point against the Fever.
