The good news for mums and dads these summer holidays is that there are more than 80 fun school holiday activities being hosted by Sunshine Coast Council’s libraries starting on Monday, December 15.

Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said holiday activities at Council’s libraries are free and cater for all ages – there is definitely something for everyone.

“There is everything from Christmas parties to a fantastic interactive magic show where children get to meet a real live rabbit - Ms Magic,” Cr McKay said.

“There are lots of fun craft workshops including how to make fairy and gnome houses, bead jewellery out of recycled materials, space crafts or 2015 calendars.

“Children are invited to get ‘techie’ with Robotic workshops from Robogals, create an Adventure Time stop-go animation with iPods and iPads or create a game or animation.

“There’s even outdoor fun with kite making and guerrilla gardening sessions plus giant size board games.”

Cr McKay said teens aged 13 to 18 don’t miss out on the fun either.

“They can get locked in one of six libraries across the Coast to find a series of clues, complete the challenges and survive all dead things to become The Hunter,” Cr McKay said.

‘We encourage families to take advantage of these fun-filled activities to entertain the children throughout the coming holidays. These programs are sure to be popular so book early to avoid disappointment.”
