Learn Arduino 101 at Nambour Library

Learn countless ways to create devices that interact with the world around you at a free four-week Arduino 101 workshop at Sunshine Coast Council’s Nambour Library from 5pm to 6.30pm, starting Tuesday, March 7.

Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said thanks to a Coding and Robotics grant from the State Library of Queensland, Sunshine Coast Libraries are offering a four-week introductory course in Arduino throughout March.

The Arduino system is a micro-controller board and software designed for extreme ease-of-use and learning. It can interact with buttons, LEDs, motors, speakers, GPS units, cameras, the internet, and even your smart-phone or your TV.

“The grant aim is to increase opportunities for our community to experiment with and learn to use new technologies,” Cr McKay said.

“Whether you want to make your own custom talking toy, automated plant watering system or smartphone door controller, there are thousands of Arduino-based projects you can explore.

“Aimed for complete beginners, this workshop doesn't require you to have written a single line of code or even own an Arduino to take part.

“Whatever your skill level, you will have fun as you learn to harness the power of the Arduino for your own DIY projects.

“In these workshops participants will look at the Arduino Uno and programming possibilities within Arduino and electronics equipment will be provided.”

It is recommended participants be 18 years or over and have basic computer knowledge to register to attend the sessions.
