If you’ve always dreamed about travelling to Italy head to the Big Screen Cinemas in Caloundra from November 20-28 for the next best thing - the Sunshine Coast Italian Film Festival.

The festival boasts a great range of Italian films, from comedies to dramas and everything in between.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said it was great to have this event in Caloundra, contributing to the cultural scene on the Sunshine Coast.

“It’s a great opportunity for our residents to experience another culture,” Cr Dwyer said.

“I’m pleased to support film festivals through Division 2 discretionary funding and work with festival director Murray Power.

“Murray has done a good job in bringing some wonderful films to the Big Screen Cinemas and the community has really enjoyed the films he’s brought to town.

“Events like these promote diverse and inclusive communities and are all part of making our region healthy, smart and creative.”

Festival organiser Murray Power said it was fantastic for the region to have a foreign language film festival, with outstanding films on offer.

“We are very grateful to our friends at the Telstra Store Caloundra, Palace Films, Big Screen Cinemas Caloundra and Cr Tim Dwyer for helping to make it happen.

“It’s no exaggeration to say the quality of Italian films makes this one of the strongest film festivals we have ever presented.”
