The Sunshine Coast’s nocturnal native animals joined more than 250 parents and kids taking part in a Halloween-themed event at Caloundra Primary School.

Dressed in their best and “battiest” Halloween costumes, kids got up close with some of our night-time creatures during a presentation by Geckoes Wildlife, explored a bat cave full of activities, enjoyed dinner and drinks and catch an outdoor screening of Hotel Transylvania.

Frankie the Flying Fox will be stopped by to take part in the festivities and local ecologist and author Dr Les Hall presented a fascinating “bat chat” that exploring how bats became associated with the tradition of Halloween.

The event was run in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council and Caloundra Primary P&C.
