Grant proves there’s no boundaries to filmmaking fun

A federal government grant has shown there are no limits to SCRUFFFY, with the film festival going mobile in an effort to explore the possibilities of filmmaking.

Youthlinx, the driving force behind the Sunshine Coast Regional Underground Film Festival for Young People has received a grant as part of Festivals Australia to offer an additional program, SCRUFFFY goes Mobile, as part of the festival, which kicks off at the end of this week.

Designed to appeal to young people with a phone camera, digital camera or mobile recording device, SCRUFFFY goes Mobile will explore how to get the best out of the multimedia capabilities, from movies, animation, games or shooting still images into an animation sequence with easy to use software.

Youthlinx project officer and festival coordinator Adam Lewczuk said artists and filmmakers around the world are creating content with mobile technologies, such as the mobisode, a term coined by the Fox Broadcasting Company, who used the technology to promote the series ‘Lost’.

“If you are interested in filmmaking and looking for a cost-effective way to create pieces for youtube or facebook sites, this is the technology for you,” Adam said.

SCRUFFFY goes Mobile is holding workshops across the coast as part of The Program these school holidays. Bookings are essential, and there is a $5 fee. Participants must be aged 11 years or older. For more information including session times, visit www.scrufffy.com.
