Horizon Festival 2018 program unveiled
Council recently unveiled an impressive 2018 program for Horizon Festival. It’s a packed 10 day program with even more local content this year – you can dip your toes in, or really immerse yourself and step outside your comfort zone. There are free and ticketed events across the region, including the Dawn Awakening finale event at Stumers Creek, which will honour the Glossy Black Cockatoo through music, dance and spoken word alongside stunning visual art installations and projections. Visit www.horizonfestival.com.au for the full program.

The next round of council’s Major Grants (all categories), Minor Grants (Event category only) and Environment Levy Grants are open now and close on Monday, September 3, 2018. For more information visit council’s website or contact a grants officer on 5420 8616 to discuss your project.
A great option for senior school students
It was a privilege to launch a new trade school on the Sunshine Coast – The Australian Industry Trade College (AITC), where technically intelligent young people who want to complete their senior schooling can get started in a trader career of their choice. I’m excited by the options this new trade school brings to the youth of our region and I encourage any parents with children who may wish to pursue a trade career to visit the AITC website for details.
