SCARs Monster Garage Sale

The Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge is one of the best-loved and most worthy charitable organisations on the Coast, and all the staff there all have hearts of gold!

So I am asking everyone to support them in their quest to raise monies through their annual Monster Garage Sale.

You can help by giving them your unwanted goods, which you can deliver to the refuge up to September 24. (But please – not any beds, mattresses, analogue TVs or monitors, pedestal fans or broken/soiled items!)

The refuge, which saves and re-homes so many dogs and cats each year, is also celebrating its 35th anniversary, so see if you can do your bit for this great cause.

Talking about community self-reliance

Sustainable living expert Nicole Foss on her third visit to our region shared her thought provoking and research presentation on “sustainable” living message at a number of venues across our region, one our CWA in Nambour.  Nicole presented ‘Practical Choices for Family and Community Self-reliance’, and living with permaculture.

She also presents on the reality of global financial realities and the need for communities to return to basis as they prepare for the future.  She also speaks about the role of the community and governments working together to enable more flexibility in growing sustainability together.

Her latest message to our community will be available on the website in the coming months.  Thanks, Transition Sunshine Coast for hosting Nicole to our region.

Congratulations, Spence Doors!

It’s great news to be able to say big congratulations to Spence Doors, whose business is tucked away in Sandalwood Lane next to the Bruce Highway at Forest Glen – they have won a multi-million-dollar contract to supply about 7000 doors in the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Well done to you all – you are a great credit to Sunshine Coast enterprise!
