One of Sunshine Coast Council’s most utilised and valued community services, the oldest mobile library affectionately called Mobi 1, is back on the road today after a much-needed refurbishment.

Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said Mobi 1, which was built in 2004, was refurbished to ensure it offered a contemporary space for people to access.

“There is no doubt the mobile library service was a valued community service, bringing a range of diverse collections and services to people from all walks of life,” Cr McKay said.

“The refurbished mobile library service will enhance the current services and create a sustainable, responsive and appealing Sunshine Coast Library service for all users – current and new.

“The refurbishment is an example of council’s continued investment in library operations and infrastructure to ensure they remain responsive to new and existing audiences.”
