Council to provide interim parking solutions for Mooloolaba
Council will proactively manage parking demand during the upcoming Brisbane Road car park project construction by adding another nearby parking option.
Sunshine Coast Council will proactively manage parking demand during the upcoming Brisbane Road car park project construction by adding another nearby parking option.
Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said a central Mooloolaba site on council-owned land at 26 Brisbane Rd would be used as a temporary car park.
It will deliver 27 interim car parks in addition to the 124 temporary spaces which are now available on the former Mooloolaba caravan park site.
“Additional parking is vital to encourage people to visit Mooloolaba and patronise those businesses throughout the construction period, which will, in turn, revitalise the precinct,” Cr Connolly said.
“Council understands the need to provide alternative car parking prior to the construction getting underway.
“The selected site is currently underutilised and interim use as a car park will provide substantial benefits to the community and our economy during construction.
“Mooloolaba’s popularity continues to grow and maintaining car parking during construction activities is vital to ensure its ongoing attraction to local, state, national and international visitors.
“It is of great importance to provide support to central Mooloolaba businesses with interim car parking.”
Once completed, the Brisbane Road car park will free up the foreshore area for community use.
The endorsed masterplan for Mooloolaba outlines a long-term vision, which includes bringing four key precincts together to revitalise the iconic area.
Through implementation of the masterplan, Mooloolaba will become a world class beach destination with outstanding natural beauty and a healthy active lifestyle.
