Council commemorates ANZAC Day
Sunshine Coast Regional Council Mayor, Bob Abbot, will officially address this year’s ANZAC Day Citizens’ March and Service in Nambour this Friday 25 April 2008.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council Mayor, Bob Abbot, will officially address this year’s ANZAC Day Citizens’ March and Service in Nambour this Friday 25 April 2008.
The Nambour march will assemble in Bury Street and will proceed down Currie Street at 8.55am, led by veterans and followed by antique cars provided by members of the Sunshine coast Antique Car Club.
The parade will also include the Nambour and Maroochy District Band, as well as the Second Light Horse Regiment (Woombye Troop).
The parade will pass through Matthew Street then come to a halt at the Quota Memorial Park for the 9.10am Citizens Service.
Guest speaker, Lieutenant Sara Lambden will address the service. Lieutenant Lambden grew up in Nambour, where she attended Burnside State Primary and High Schools.
Since finishing high school, Lieutenant Lambden has spent over 10 years in the Royal Australian Navy as a Maritime Geospatial specialist.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council and the Nambour Sub-Branch of the RSL will jointly host the commemorations, with assistance from Nambour Police, 128th Regional Army Cadets, 207 Squadron Air Training Cadets and State Emergency Service.
A World War II Wirraway vintage plane will perform a flyover at 10am.
