Settler’s Cove will move into its final stages of development with council’s approval of the new four-storey resort and unit facility at Serenity Close, Noosa Heads.
The application was approved at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on Thursday 8 April 2010.
Division 11 councillor Russell Green said the approval of this final stage is the completion of years of planning for the Settler’s Cove area.
“This new development will give an economic boost to the area, and provide further support to the tourism industry on the Sunshine Coast,” Cr Green said.
“Council has given approval for 199, two and three bedroom residential and resort units, with conditions that relate to issues such as landscaping, resort access, building design and environmental protection.
“When completed, the facility will also include conference rooms, a restaurant and bar, retails shops, day spa, swimming pools and 286 car parking spaces.
“The Settlers Cove development includes about 20 hectares of land dedicated to environmental conservation, with protection measures in place for the existing Koala and Glossy Black Cockatoo habitat.”
Steps have been put in place to ensure the disruption to surrounding residents during construction is minimised.
