Clean-up underway following severe storm damage in Mooloolaba

Despite destructive winds damaging six properties in Akeringa Place, Mooloolaba last night only minor injuries were reported – and emergency services and Sunshine Coast Council have worked quickly to clear the area of debris and are making it safe for the community.

Despite destructive winds damaging six properties in Akeringa Place, Mooloolaba last night only minor injuries were reported – and emergency services and Sunshine Coast Council have worked quickly to clear the area of debris and are making it safe for the community.

Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFES) have lead the emergency response and assessed the extent of property damage, and the street is expected to be open by tomorrow morning.

The Department of Communities is working with displaced residents to ensure they are relocated.

Council crews have also been on site at various locations across the region to clear debris, however no major damage in any other area has been reported.
