The Sunshine Coast Events Network (SCENE) has been acknowledged as a much-needed networking opportunity that will provide valuable support and stimulate growth across the industry throughout the region.
The inaugural networking evening held at the Lake Kawana Community Centre on 30 March was a tremendous success with over 50 event industry professionals coming together to trade names, numbers, experiences and industry secrets in a forum designed to strengthen the quality and enrich the diversity of events on the Sunshine Coast.
The first workshop attracted various event organisers, community groups and students from across the Coast with the opportunity to learn and develop their event management skills through relevant topic discussions from leading event industry professionals.
SCENE is fast becoming a buzz word in the local event industry and organiser, Sunshine Coast Council Senior Events Coordinator Janine Symons is looking to build on the success.
"The goal is to create a dynamic events industry network on the Sunshine Coast," she said.
"Council believes there is a massive gap in the market for such a group and it was very heartening to have the attendees at the first networking night applaud the introduction of SCENE. ‘ It’s about time’ was the catch cry of the evening."
SCENE will run the next educational workshop on Wednesday 18 May at The Events Centre, Caloundra from 1:30 to 5:15pm. The workshop will focus on how to run successful events, with tips from leading industry professionals on topics such as transport, running sustainable events, contracts and legal issues, sponsorship, audio and staging, and ticketing. Cost for the workshop is $30, which includes afternoon tea. Places are limited, so book now via the ‘What’s On’ page on council’s website.
The networking evening is free to attend and runs from 5:30 to 7pm on Wednesday 18 May at The Events Centre Caloundra. The night will feature spectacular themeing by Event Effects, a fun networking activity by Sabre Corporate Development and delicious catering by The Events Centre. Please email [email protected] to RSVP by Monday 16 May.
SCENE is proudly supported by Business Events Sunshine Coast, the University of the Sunshine Coast and Sunshine Coast TAFE who all have strong input and involvement with the network.
