Join acclaimed Australian author and social researcher Hugh Mackay for a lively discussion at Sunshine Coast Council’s Maroochydore Library from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, 26 May.
Hugh Mackay has had a 60-year career in social research and was a weekly newspaper columnist for 25 years.
He is the author of 17 books, including bestseller, The Good Life.
Hugh was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2015 and in recognition of his pioneering research work, been awarded numerous university honorary doctorates.
Hugh will be discussing his new non-fiction release, Beyond Belief, where he takes on the controversial topic of the declining role of religion in our society.
Written with insight and compassion, Mackay interviewed dozens of Australians representing many different points of the spectrum of faith and how society finds spiritual fulfilment in today’s world.
The literary event, with Dr Phillip Ablett, Lecturer of Sociology at Sunshine Coast University as master of ceremonies, is part of a series of Sunshine Coast Libraries author talks hosted at various locations across the region. It will also feature as a highlight during Library and Information Week’s program of events.
Hugh’s books will be available for purchase at the venue.
Enjoy live music by Terence Boyd Thallon. Tickets are $20 per person and bookings are a must via council’s library website. Light refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages will be included.
