Pilates classes at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens

Here’s how you can begin the new year the right way by prioritising healthy living, positive mental health and making connections – without breaking the bank.

It’s time to run, jump and groove into Sunshine Coast Council’s Healthy Sunshine Coast program, which catapults into action for 2024 across the region on Monday January 29.

Healthy Sunshine Coast is an affordable and holistic community health and wellbeing initiative that supports and encourages our community to be healthy, have fun and meet new friends.

The aim of the program is to encourage:

  • positive mental health and resilience
  • regular physical activity
  • healthy eating
  • strong social connections
  • participation across all ages and abilities.

Sunshine Coast Council’s Economic and Community Development Group Executive Greg Laverty said this year’s program had something for everyone.

“Activities range from the new pilates classes at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens, laughter yoga in Maleny and Caloundra and over 50s fitness at Buderim,” Mr Laverty said.

“Join in the fun and let’s build a happier, healthier and more connected region.”

Registration is free, but essential. Once signed up, local residents will be able to attend a range of low-cost health and wellbeing activities around the region, which are $10 – or just $5 with a Health Care/Pensioner card.

Registered participants will receive regular email updates on classes, health and wellbeing snippets and healthy recipes.

Additional activities will be added over time. Ensure you are registered to keep up-to-date. For more information and to register, visit Council’s website and search ‘Healthy Sunshine Coast’.
