A $4.46 million commitment to upgrade a major traffic corridor at Evans Street, Maroochydore and a $2.4million expansion and refurbishment of the Mudjimba Holiday Park are among the many projects delivered in Division 8 as part of Sunshine Coast Council’s $227 million capital works budget for 2016/17.
Division 8 Councillor Jason O’Pray said the 2016/17 budget included a mix of projects to shape a positive future and build Australia’s Smart Region.
“I’m absolutely over the moon with the outcome at Evans Street – at $20million in total, it is one of the biggest infrastructure projects delivered by council and was completed just before Christmas, three months ahead of schedule,” Cr O’Pray said.
“This project had a lot of attention and interest from the community during the consultation and design stages in 2014 and then the 20 months of construction, especially the residents, businesses and organisations within the work corridor.
“I know so many people are as thrilled as I am with the outstanding improvements this project has delivered.
“Mudjimba Holiday Park is a major drawcard for visitors to our region and the 45 new powered sites, internal roads, landscaping and electrical works council completed just before Christmas have already yielded significant increases in bookings which is great for our region as a whole.
“Other fantastic additions in Division 8 during this financial year include a $282,000 renewal of the Chambers Island Bridge, Maroochydore and $600,000 worth of streetscape, kerb and channel works at Pandanus Street, Mudjimba.”
Sunshine Coast Council will hand down its 2017/18 budget on June 15.
