These are an annual excellence award recognising the incredible individuals, businesses, educational and community groups who are creating positive change in helping to shape our Sunshine Coast Biosphere for a more sustainable future.

Who can be nominated?

Anyone can be nominated provided they meet the category criteria.

Absolutely!

While someone else can put forward your name or organisation, the nominee must complete the entry form.

How do I nominate someone?

Fill out the “nominate someone else” form, naming the person or organisation you are nominating, providing their contact details and explaining why you think they should enter the award.

What makes a strong nomination?

A strong nomination:

  • answers all questions and provides one referee in the nomination form
  • explains the actions or initiative the person or the organisation performed
  • explains why it mattered
  • shares real examples or results
  • shows how others got involved
  • includes supporting photos, links or videos if you have them.

Yes!

When the nominee completes an entry form, they can choose to enter multiple categories. However, you’ll need to enter each category separately with its own entry form.

Who decides the winners?

Who decides the winners?

A panel of judges made up of community leaders, educational experts, youth representatives and local partners read the nominations and score them.

They look for:

  • completed nominations that meet eligibility and criteria
  • positive actions
  • impact
  • inspiration.

When will we find out the results?

Finalists will be announced 12 June with the winners announced at the Sunshine Coast Biosphere Awards Ceremony on 26 June. All finalists will be invited to the ceremony.

At the ceremony, all finalists will be acknowledged before the winner is announced for each category.

An additional announcement will be made for the Froggie Award, supported by the Sunshine Coast Environment Council. This award will be selected by the judging panel from across the award categories recognised for their environmental contribution to the Sunshine Coast Biosphere.

Yes! Sharing photos, videos, links or news stories celebrates what you achieved.

Why has the Froggie Award been included in the Sunshine Coast Biosphere Awards?

The Sunshine Coast Environment Council Froggie Award was a well-respected awards program delivered by the Sunshine Coast Environment Council (SCEC). From 2026, the Froggie Award will be presented as an overall environmental excellence award, selected from all Biosphere Award nominations.
