Support our goal for indoor sport 

Join our petition urging the Australian and Queensland Governments to invest in a new indoor sports centre on the Sunshine Coast. 

Indoor courts across the Sunshine Coast are full, clubs are stretched and many people who want to play are missing out. Our region is growing fast and we don’t have enough indoor courts to keep up – which is why Sunshine Coast Council is asking the community to show their support for a new 12‑court indoor sports centre. 

We need all levels of government to commit to funding. Your support could make it happen. 

We need more indoor courts 

• All major venues are operating at or near capacity. 
• The region is already short by 15 indoor courts. 
• The shortfall is expected to rise to 40+ courts within 20 years if no action is taken. 
• Participation is growing rapidly, driven by population growth, increased female involvement and the rise of sports like basketball, futsal and pickleball. 

What a new indoor sports centre will deliver 

• 12 modern, accessible courts. 
• Facilities that meet contemporary standards, including para‑sport requirements. 
• Space for year‑round training, competitions and community events. 
• A place for people of all ages to play, learn and belong. 
• The ability to handle rapid growth across multiple sports. 

Indoor sport creates a shared space – a place where people of all ages come together, form friendships and feel a sense of belonging. Our community deserves modern, accessible indoor courts that meet contemporary standards, including para-sport participation. 

Help us score the indoor sports venue our region deserves 

We’ve shown the need and we’ve built the case, but Council can’t deliver this alone. We need both State and Federal Governments to come on board. Support from the Australian and Queensland Governments is essential – and strong community support can help get it over the line.
