Monitoring the night sky quality
Tracking how dark our night skies are over time.

Night sky quality data is captured across the Sunshine Coast International Dark Sky Reserve. This information helps us to understand the quality of our night skies, track any changes from impacts of light pollution and report back to DarkSky International annually.
The map below shows where night sky measurements have been taken across the Dark Sky Reserve. Click on a star to see the location and the average measurement at each site.
Help measure the night sky quality
You can help keep track of the night sky quality by taking part in the Globe at Night Program. It’s a worldwide community science project where people observe the night sky and share what they can see to help measure and reduce light pollution.
