Impacted services due to novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
Council is monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation with the health and safety of our staff and the community the key priority.
Cashless transactions
Cashless transactions have been implemented at Waste Management Facilities
In these unprecedented times it is necessary to change how transactions are completed at our waste management facilities.
Effective from 6 April 2020 NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED for any transaction at a waste management facility only credit/debit cards will be accepted with account holder transactions continuing as normal.
This decision has been made to ensure the ongoing health and safety of all persons involved in transactions at our waste facilities.
Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) update – council reopen recycle markets
Cashless transactions only (NO CASH ACCEPTED)
As of the 2 June 2020, the recycle markets at Buderim Resource Recovery Centre, Caloundra Resource Recovery Centre, Beerwah Resource Recovery Centre, Witta Resource Recovery Centre will resume normal trading hours. Due to COVID restrictions, a limit on the number of customers able to access each market at any given time has been introduced. The number of people per market will be monitored and our customers will also be asked to use tap-and-pay to minimise physical contact. Visitors may be asked to queue, and are requested to follow directional signage in place. They are also reminded that enclosed footwear is required to enter the markets.
Council provides eight waste management and resource recovery facilities on the Coast. These facilities do not have public weighbridges. There are recycling and second hand markets at Buderim, Caloundra, Beerwah and Witta.
Visitors must wear closed in footwear at all facilities. This is a health and safety requirement. People wearing sandals or thongs will be refused entry.
