Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) update - council parks and beaches are open with social distancing required.

The following facilities are now open to the public:

  • public barbeques 
  • playgrounds
  • exercise equipment/fitness stations*
  • skate parks
  • dog parks and off leash areas.

*Personal trainers can hold sessions for up to ten people (including the trainer) on council land but they must have an existing Low impact/ Commercial use permit. They must also use COVIDSafe practices. For more details visit Community Land Permits. 

Surf Life Saving Queensland's red and yellow flags will return to the beaches from Saturday 13 June marking the designated swimming areas. For more information visit Surf Life Saving Queensland website.

Be COVIDSafe

While council has increased cleaning of many facilities, being COVIDSafe is everyone's responsibility. We remind residents and visitors to observe social distancing requirements when using public spaces which includes: 

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Keep 1.5 metres away from others
  • Limit outdoor gatherings to 20 people
  • Avoid peak times and overcrowded areas
  • Wash or disinfect hands regularly
  • Avoid touching high use areas.

    This 3 hectare district park features a playground, basketball court, cricket pitch, barbecues and plenty of shade. Dogs are permitted off leash at all times as indicated on the provided signs

  • John Hotton Park

    This park at Beach Access point 232 is located opposite Lapoinya Crescent. Half the park is sheltered by natural shade. The park provides a playground, shelters with picnic and barbecue facilities and public amenities. There is street parking.

  • JR Ford Park

    This park has a small playground, basketball half court and a water play park.

  • Judy Henzell Park

      Agincourt Street, Pelican Waters

    Perfect park for a child's birthday party or family picnic. The park provides a fenced cricket oval, natural shade, a track for bike riding and shelters with picnic and barbecues facilities. The shaded children's playground is great for younger children with the play equipment low to the ground. The park also provides accessible public amenities.

  • Kawana Beach

    Beach Access points 220 - 228. This is a patrolled surf beach with the Kawana Surf Club located within Coopers Lookout Park. This park has public amenities, two playgrounds and picnic facilities. There are also beach showers at Beach Access points 225, 226 and 227.

  • Kawana Island - Fenced Dog Park

      Grand Parade, Parrearra (Kawana Island)

    This is a fully fenced dog off-leash area. The park is connected to other facilities within the area by a wide pedestrian pathway. The dog park contains a large open grass area for play, a dog bowl and taps, park seating and plenty of trees surrounding the park for shade

  • Kawana Island Waterfront Walkway

    Enjoy walking, jogging or cycling the 4 kilometres waterfront pathways of Kawana Island.

  • Kawana Skate Park
    • Address:
      Kawana Sports Precinct, 45 Sportsmans Parade, Bokarina

    This facility located on the northern side of the Kawana Aquatic Centre features grind rails, two flat banks, declining ¼ bank, banked ½ pipe, grinding block spine, mini ¾ bowl, triple hump and ¼ pipe. Shade sails cover two thirds of the skate bowl.

  • Keith Hill Park

      Esplanade, Golden Beach

    This waterfront park runs for 1.5 kilometres along the southern most end of Golden Beach. Shelters with picnic and barbecue facilities are located in various spots along the length of the Esplanade

  • Keith Royal Oval
    • Address:
      Keith Royal Drive, Marcoola

    The park provides plenty of natural shade, a shelter with picnic table and a playground protected from the sun by shade sails. The park also provides a full size cricket pitch and oval. The cricket oval is used for competitive matches during the cricket season, so dogs are not permitted on the playing oval. However located close by is the fully fenced 'Marcoola Dog Park'
